How to Check Your iPhone 4S, 3GS Signal Strength : No Jailbreak Required

You can now find out for yourself of how strong is the signal of your device. As it unspecific for you to count the number of bars on your screen, you can convert the signal bars into an actual number.The numbers so obtained are measured in terms of decibels and if it more nearer to zero then more is the strength of the signal. It is quite certain that when you are in a dead zone and if you want to track which area to allow you to make an important call then it would make you a bit easier to overcome this.

iPhone 4 does access a hidden area of your phone, you need not jailbreak your device but follow this simple process.

Step 1: Dial *3001#12345#* on your iPhone then press Call.

Step 2: You will be now taken to a enter Field Test mode. Here, you will come to know a signal strength indicator on the upper left hand corner of your screen. If you just tap you are made to toggle between signal strength bars and a number. If you want to exit the app then press Home button but if you like the features of the app then you can proceed further without any worry because the whole process is completely reversible.

Step 3: You need to hold on, the Power button until you see the ‘slide to power off’ bar. Never switch off the device.

Step 4: Press down on the Home button until the app closes and you return to your home screen.

This is it. The same thing happens when you restart the iPhone where the the signal strength can be toggled between bars and numbers and the more closer your number gets to zero, the stronger is the signal.

If you wish to return to the default bars permanently, then you can follow these steps:

Step 1: Dial *3001#12345#* on your iPhone then press Call.

Step 2: Press on your Home Button once.

The moment you are done with the second step, it closes the Field Test mode which will not be seen on your iPhone again unless you repeat the process.
